Guitar & Vocals
Frank Chrisman is a singer/guitarist from the Wayland area. He started playing guitar at 14 years old and learned by listening to a lot of Neil Young, The Beatles and Lynyrd Skynyrd albums as a young man. Eventually he joined a band with his cousin and his cousin’s best friend and started the band Running with Scissors. This group morphed into Vertical Smile and played primarily heavy rock of the day (Metallica, Green Day, Bush, and a lot of other 90s grunge). As they grew in popularity they widened their song list, added female vocalists Mary Ellis and Polly Madalinski, and went in a more popular dance direction. After about 15 years and several lineup changes Vertical Smile called it quits, leaving Frank doing some short stints with bands like Rymes with Orange, Old Skool, occasional fill-in for Stolen Horses, and then he joined Fat Bottom Groove. “The Groove” was not really Frank’s style of music but he did meet fellow guitarist Brian George there, after both he and Brian left the groove, Brian invited him to check out the band he was in, and the chemistry was right. Frank joined The Hard Times Band, giving them a dual lead guitar attack that many bands dream of .
Frank currently plays exclusively Gibson Guitars and Orange amplification
